Curriculum News

Fundations

Unit 2 packet will be coming home tomorrow! Included in it are the first 6 "trick words" to practice, as well as reference sheets for what we are reviewing. Feel free to cut them out, play games with them, read them as flashcards and have your child practice, practice, practice! There's no need to send anything back into school unless your child wants to share his/her work!

Topic 1 Math

We just completed topic 3 in math and are moving into topic 1. The district math specialists changed the order of the topics to meet the needs of students....I'm not going crazy and yes, you are getting the right papers! I am holding onto all their tests until conference time, but if there's an issue I will certainly get in touch with you! For their first test, they did really well!

Got supplies?

The classroom is pretty well stocked with supplies for the kids, but we could always use...
-sticky gems (tons & tons for our reward system)
-tissues
-sensory items (for our chill zone: kinetic sand, paint trays, paint rollers, etc)
-stickers (Lots of them!!!)

I'm a huge fan of reusing & repurposing, so if you're cleaning house send some things in!
-Jars, bins, buckets
-old craft supplies
-we could use a class set of egg cartons
-old dice
-Bingo stampers (The kids love them)
-If anyone could get a class set of pizza boxes (hopefully clean), I'd really appreciate it!
I'm also looking for two 5-min sand timers similar to the picture below.

Really anything you think might be useful! Thanks so much!!!

Bottles, Cans & Tabs

Bottles, Cans & Tabs

BOTTLES AND CANS – Jefferson school collects MA redemption code bottles and cans for recycling.  The money we receive for this is used to fund special projects at Jefferson.  The classes are divided into teams and a friendly competition between teams is scored by Mr. Chelman’s class who do the final counts.  Collection day is usually the first Friday

of the month and we encourage people to rinse and count the bottles and cans that are sent in.  Tabs from aluminum cans are also collected to send to the Shriners. I used to run that program with my third graders...so make me proud! Let's represent!
